Topic: Some people believe libraries are very important because we can get information and borrow books there, while some other people think computers are more important and libraries are a waste of time and money. Discuss both views and state your opinion.
In contemporary society, more and more people prefer to use high-tech devices instead of traditional books. There are some people who hold the opinion that libraries are essential in society while another group insists that computers play a more significant role. In this essay, I will analyse the given two views and will also present my opinion in the end.[Excellent!]
There is little doubt that computers bring conveniences to individuals’ lives. First and foremost, the computer is an easy bypass for users to access information. People would only need a few seconds to type in things they wanted to know in Google and then get the answers immediately. Secondly, the media features, such as playing music and movies, could provide individuals with a more enjoyable time at home. Last but not least, computers and the internet bring virtual classes to students, which is especially important when a pandemic occurs worldwide.[Good argument.]
However, there are also sufficient grounds for another group of people to argue that libraries are necessary and that is why libraries are still existing. The first reason is that libraries are not only a place people could borrow books but also a place human cultures are stored/presented. Computers might provide the same knowledge, but not the joy when someone sits down and touches the actual paper book. Moreover, people learning or reading in libraries are less likely to be distracted since except for knowledge, computers carry plenty of other attractive functions and information. Lastly, there are seniors who have never learned to handle computers, and might never be taught in the future, and libraries would be the only place they can read.[Good.]
With the above analysis, it is easy to see that computers and libraries have their merits and limitations separately/respectively, and my view is that one could never replace the other completely because both of them are meaningful to our life.[Nice end!]
