The money spent by governments on space programmes would be better spent on vital public services such as schools and hospitals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is believed that many countries have invested/allocated a great number of public funds into space projects and explorations. They believe spending the funds on space programmes are more important than that on public services. In my opinion, the money should be spent more on public services because it directly links to the current living conditions of the public.
For sure, spending funds on space programmes is important to mankind, because it directly links to the future life of the whole human beings. Due to the fact that the lifespan of the earth is limited, we may have to find a planet that could be suitable for our daily life as another “home” for humans via certain space projects such as Migrating/Colonizing to/ Mars according to Elon Musk (CEO of SpaceX). Moreover, we may be able to locate other intellectual creatures or E.T. extraterrestrials (galaxies) that could educate us on cutting-edge/modern technologies to improve the well-being of the life on earth.
Nevertheless, I believe it is more important to spend government fundings on public services ,because the services provided to the public relate to the current living conditions of humans. With the outstanding public services, the wellness and development of all humans will be improved significantly. For instance, the investment on educational programs could fundamentally increase the percentage of literacy and meanwhile initiate the public’s interests in both scientific and technological innovations. In addition, more fundings in hospitals allow us to find ways to cure incurable diseases such as cancers and AIDS and therefore extend the life expectancy of people.
In conclusion, governments should spend more funds on public services instead of space programmes. If funds are allocated primarily to public services, our people will reap the benefits of the services in many aspects. ( 294 words )
